1. Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo
The Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo, the largest outdoor rodeo in the southern hemisphere, is held during the second weekend of August each year. The three-day event showcases some of Australia's best bull and bronc riders, barrel racers, and more. The event is packed with activities, including concerts, street performances, and a carnival. There's also food and drinks, and of course, plenty of excitement.
2. Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic
The Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic is a three-day fishing event that takes place on the Labour Day weekend, typically on the first weekend in May, each year. The fishing competition is divided into several categories, including junior sections and other special events. There are always prizes to be won, and the environment is family-friendly and relaxed.
3. Mount Isa Rodeo Ball
Celebrate the beginning of the rodeo season with the Mount Isa Rodeo Ball. The event is organized one night before the Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo and hosted by the Mount Isa Rodeo Queen and Princess. The ball celebrates the town of Mount Isa and its rich rodeo heritage. Attendees get to dress up, enjoy a three-course meal, dance, and even have a chance to win some big prizes.
4. Mount Isa Irish Club Crawl
St. Patrick's Day in Mount Isa is an exciting event that is celebrated with great pomp and show. The Mount Isa Irish Club Crawl is an annual pub crawl where patrons hit up different pubs in the area, enjoying drink specials and live entertainment, as well as traditional music and dancing. The event is typically held on the weekend closest to St. Patrick's Day.
5. Mount Isa Festival of the Outback
The Mount Isa Festival of the Outback is a ten-day event held each year in late September. The festival celebrates the spirit of the outback and provides visitors with an authentic outback experience. The festival features a range of activities, including live music, international food, and drinks, an outback rodeo, and a treasure hunt. Visitors get to experience the true outback environment, including campfires, bush cooking, and star-gazing.
6. Easter in the Outback

The event is packed with exciting activities throughout the weekend, including a market day, a simulated rodeo, live music, games and contests, and a visit from the Easter Bunny himself. 7. Mount Isa Races

There are six horse races on the day, and patrons can witness the famed running of the Mount Isa Cup. 8. Mount Isa Show
The Mount Isa Show is a family-friendly three-day event held annually in late May. The event features a range of activities, including a petting zoo and animal encounters, live entertainment, carnival rides, and food stalls.
